Kristiansund BK loses point after protest from Vålerenga Fotball. The Disciplinary Committee of the Norwegian Football Federation has decided that Kristiansund BK loses one point after the match against Vålerenga Fotball. Resultatet omgjøres til 3-0 and Vålerenga tilkjennes tre poeng. Kristiansund BK has the opportunity to appeal the decision within 24 hours. The club will go through the committee's decision and evaluate it. In KBK's response to the protest, the club referred to conflicting wording in NFF's reaction regulations and in the Eliteserien tournament rules, which created uncertainty about whether yellow cards in the OBOS-ligaen also apply to Eliteserien. The Disciplinary Committee is in its decision unanimous that the tournament rules have «some legal technical weaknesses that should be improved by the Board of Directors», but that the overall rulebook does not appear to be unclear. – I think this could have been solved differently. If nothing else, we have contributed to clarity around the issue, and it is clear that this will lead to clarification of the rulebook, says Martin Williams, board member of Kristiansund BK. On Saturday, November 22, Vålerenga Fotball and Kristiansund BK played 3-3 in the 29th round of Eliteserien. After the match, Vålerenga Fotball filed an elite protest. The protest was based on the fact that Vålerenga believes that KBK's Leander Næss Alvheim should have been suspended for three yellow cards for KBK in Eliteserien and one for Ranheim in OBOS-ligaen. The current situation was known through statements from the commentator in TV 2 during the live broadcast of the match. Kristiansund BK responded to the complaint within the deadline on Monday, November 24, at 12:00. KBK believes that Alvheim was eligible to play in accordance with the reaction regulations combined with the tournament rules, point 7.5.1. KBK therefore requested that KBK be acquitted of the breach of the Reaction Regulations, subsidiarily that the result be upheld. KBK believes that the rule in the tournament rules, point 7.5.1, must be the guiding principle for the assessment. This provision's wording is clear, and it shows that the warnings must be given «in NFF Eliteserien in the same season». From KBK's side, it appears that this is what NFF has done in practice, cf. their own statistics on yellow cards. Before submitting the team roster, KBK reviewed the list and concluded that Alvheim had three yellow cards. Alvheim has not received four warnings «in NFF Eliteserien in the same season». KBK believes that this is insufficient grounds for a sanction, as there are conflicting wording in § 4-2 and § 4-9, as well as in the Eliteserien tournament rules, point 7.5.1. At the same time, KBK believes that even if one were to come to the conclusion that Alvheim was not eligible to play, one must nonetheless take into account the uncertainty created by the rulebook, and that NFF must bear responsibility for this. The entire decision from the Disciplinary Committee can be read here. The Disciplinary Committee writes that it follows from the reaction regulations § 4-2 (1) that a player accumulates warnings also after a club change. Kristiansund has in its response referred to the reaction regulations § 4-9, and has pointed out that the provisions in § 4-2 and § 4-9 are unclear and conflicting.
